ToneDeaf This 23+ minute instrumental Shredfest is uptempo & upbeat- I get shades of Joe Satriani or Eric Johnson at times. For the uninitiated, Brooticus is the fictional band from Daniel Warren Johnson’s ‘MurderFalcon’ comic series (completed & collected- seek it out!), & if you dig monsters, world-ending plots, and HEAVY METAL than it’s the comic for you! And this collection of razor sharp riffs is the perfect accompaniment for such a METAL comic. Favorite tracks are Mountain Cleaver & All Hai

Gunner some sick riffs for a sick comic from a SICK creator, guys got fingers for guitars and the hands for brushes, the more i learn about DWJ the more i admire the guy, he's what I strive for artistically not just in style but in mentality, flow, care and love for the craft. this album emphasises those qualities very clearly through music, and helps to channel the energies very much alive in his heart.
hope for more albums in the future if so willing! at the very least his own real life label or artist handle outside of Brooticus cause this is jamming. Favorite track: Top Down, Cold Beer, Good Friends.

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
